Conspiracy theory? San Francisco 49ers ILB NaVorro Bowman believes so. Shortly after practice concluded, Bowman was asked for his thoughts on being ranked No. 61 on NFL Network’s Top 100 players of 2016. [Question asked by Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area]. Bowman did not hold back his feelings as he takes shots at NFL Network.
“I don’t like it. I’ve never seen a ballot in voting anyone on that Top 100 list. They say that we [players] vote for it. It’s totally bogus and I’m sure I would be lower than 61 if the players really voted on it.”
Bowman then backed up those words by saying it may have been a conspiracy theory against him:
“You can ask around. I’ve never seen any player or heard of any player say that they voted for the NFL Top 100. And I remember I had something to do and couldn’t do an interview for it, so maybe that’s why they put me at 61.”
In fairness to NFL Network, I can’t say Bowman’s statements are 100% true.
I posted an instagram video last year of the players voting for this year’s Top 100 list. In the 49ers locker room, OG Andrew Tiller was given a ballot while debating with OG Alex Boone on whether ILB Luke Kuechly should be No. 1 in 2016 as Boone calls Kuechly an “Animal!” (Watch video below)
Sorry, Bowman. While I do agree you should have been ranked higher, NFL Network did have people inside the 49ers locker room handing out the ballots to numerous players to fill out.
