Week 15 Preview: San Francisco 49ers vs. Cincinnati Bengals

As the San Francisco 49ers (4-9) take on the Cincinnati Bengals (10-3) it won’t be easy despite the 49ers defense going up against an inexperienced Bengals QB A.J. McCarron.

The Bengals who have one of the best wide-receivers in the league in WR A.J. Green, should have a big day as I predict him to finish with a stat line around eight catches for 117 yards and one touchdown. A defense that will have their hands full as they face one of the best, look for Green to get his fair share of targets early and often.

While the 49ers secondary will have their hands full with Green, it will be up to the 49ers front seven to set the tone up front. Led by a unit of underrated players including NT Ian Williams and DE Quinton Dial, they should make life difficult for Bengals RB Giovani Bernard and RB Jeremy Hill.

While the 49ers defense tries to do their part as they lead the NFL in scoring defense with a stingy 15.8 points per game it will be up to the 49ers stagnant offense to do theirs. A team that has never scored 30 points this season, don’t expect things to change this time around as they face DE Carlos Dunlap, DT Geno Atkins, and LB Vontaze Burfict.

A defense that takes pride on being physical while setting the edge up front, expect the 49ers offense to be stalled for the majority of the game, as 49ers RB Shaun Draughn tries to hit the hole. However, I don’t see that happening as the Bengals defense should make the 49ers offense one-dimensional.

With the 49ers trying to get a victory it won’t happen this time around as the Bengals are clearly a better team as I see the 49ers losing 23-13.

Vegas Odds

Sakamoto: 31-14 (Over/Under)

With the total points set at 41, I would slightly take the under. In a game where the Bengals score at least 20 points, expect the 49ers offense to struggle as they have yet to top 30.

Sakamoto: 26-19 (ATS)

With the 49ers being -6.5 point underdogs, I would take the Bengals. A game in which I can see the 49ers easily covering the spread while winning the game outright if all goes well.

As you know we select three players each game who we think will score touchdowns (quarterbacks omitted). Here are this week’s picks.

TE Blake Bell

RB Giovani Bernard

WR A.J. Green
