A trade between the Denver Broncos and San Francisco 49ers appeared imminent just one month ago. A deal that involved QB Colin Kaepernick, it appears that deal has now taken a backseat, as Broncos GM John Elway gave the media an update.
“It’s dormant,” Elway said. “He’s been working out from what I understand, so, that’s all I can say about it.”
However, Elway also did not rule out the possibility of pulling the plug on the Kaepernick trade just yet, as an offer is sitting on the table for the Broncos, if in fact they want to proceed. “Everything’s right there,” Elway said.
49ers GM Trent Baalke was asked in our annual pre-draft interview if he had a face-to-face conversation with the six-year veteran and Baalke has not. “I have not talked to him personally, face-to-face, no.”
If Kaepernick were to get traded, I would say it’s 75 percent likely it would be on draft day as that’s the best time to strike deals.
