WATCH: 49ers’ Special Teams Coach Thomas McGaughey Rips WR Bruce Ellington Over Muffed Punt

San Francisco 49ers Special Teams coach Thomas McGaughey also known to the players as ‘Coach T-Mac’ was not happy with WR Bruce Ellington as he ripped the second-year player as he had this to say…

Ellington who muffed an early punt in the Arizona Cardinals game due to trying to field the ball like he was catching a chest pass in basketball — made a costly error which eventually led to the Cardinals scoring.

Coach T-Mac voiced his displeasure as he said, “You can look at the kid in New England (Chris Harper) last week. He ain’t got a job. If Bruce were standing right here next to me, I’d say the same thing, ‘You got to take care of the ball. Everybody’s got a job to do. Do your job.'”

49ers’ rookie RB Jarryd Hayne who is by far the better player of the two in terms of running after the catch was demoted because of his fumbling issues. However, I wrote an article over a month ago giving every reason why Hayne should play. Now, it appears that Hayne should be the next man up as Ellington hasn’t done much as the primary return man.
