As the San Francisco 49ers continue their voluntary OTAs one player who has been quickly scrutinized is TE Vernon Davis. A player that continues to miss OTAs despite having two years remaining on his current contract while losing out on $200,000 in the process, there have been rumors swirling around Santa Clara that Davis is unhappy with that deal.

Davis, who has numerous business ventures outside of football including Gallery 85 (Santana Row), Jamba Juice, D1 and most recently Fantex Inc., Davis says he needs to protect his brand as he said: “It’s not about me doing my deal, it’s about me being the CEO of my brand.”

Davis went on to say, “I bleed red and gold. I’m all about the 49ers. I love the 49ers. My dream is to retire as a San Francisco 49er. OTAs aren’t mandatory, so I don’t have to be there technically. I just decided not to go. I decided not to be there … Everyone was just assuming I wanted a new contract. I just take it one day at a time. If they offer me a new contract, I’ll gladly take it. I’ll accept it.”

With Davis set to have his annual fashion show at lovely Santana Row, we will be there to provide the latest surrounding the Pro Bowl talent as it unfolds.
