San Francisco 49ers GM Trent Baalke was quick to shoot down the rumors that they were heavily interested in former Carolina Panthers DE Greg Hardy. A report by Bleacher Report, it appears that report is untrue according to the 49ers GM.
An organization that prides themselves on ‘winning with class,’ Baalke said there is zero interest in the one-time Pro Bowler.
“There’s been no contact with Greg Hardy or any representative of his,” Baalke told beat writers. “There is no interest that we’ve shown, nor will we show, in bringing Greg Hardy into this program.”
Hardy, who is currently on NFL commissioner Roger Goodell’s ‘exempt-list,’ is currently a free-agent. Former GM Bill Polian labeled Hardy an A-rated player on the field but due to his recent domestic abuse case downgraded him as the risk-reward may be too risky for an NFL team to take on.
With the 49ers out of the Hardy sweepstakes, it appears they are happy with the players they have in place as they have a good mix of young talent and savvy veterans.
