Tomsula on Defense: “The schematics On Defense Is a 3-4.”

What type of defense will the San Francisco 49ers use in 2015? Head coach Jim Tomsula silenced the rumors on them transitioning to a 4-3 as he clearly stated he will stick to a 3-4. “The schematics on defense is a 3-4 and we’ll continue using that,” Tomsula said.

Rumors were swirling around that the 49ers would transition to a 4-3 to accommodate ILB Chris Borland but that was just a bunch of bologna.

However, Tomsula did single out two players during his NFL combine press conference as he used the word ‘excited’ when talking about Borland and promising third-year DE Tank Carradine.

Carradine is a favorite of Tomsula and will likely be in a camp battle with DE Quinton Dial for the starting spot opposite of DE Justin Smith if he decides to come back for one more season.

With the 49ers remaining a 3-4 as I anticipated, they will need to continue fielding a deep front seven as they help their weak link on the back-end.
