Sources: Adam Schefter reports OLB Aldon Smith to owe 49ers after season

According to ESPN NFL Analyst Adam Schefter, San Francisco 49ers OLB Aldon Smith will soon find himself in unchartered territory as he may be the first NFL player in history to pay to play in the NFL. Did you hear that correctly? He will have to pay the 49ers to play according to sources.

The numbers don’t lie. Look at how much is owed when it’s all said and done. What this picture above means is that Smith is scheduled to make $1.099 million this season. However, after taxes that net salary will be $525,000 leaving $1.18 million remaining on the table that Smith owes the team.
