To make room on the San Francisco 49ers 90-man roster, they needed to cut ties with some current players including OLB Darius Fleming, CB Dax Swanson, and WR Demarco Sampson.

Fleming who was once a promising fifth-round pick (No. 165) in the 2012 draft was unable to see the field due to being injury prone. A player that suffered torn ACL’s in each of his first two seasons, while never taking a snap for the 49ers, it was clear why Fleming was released. An outside linebacker that reminded me of former OLB Scott McKillop as he was another fifth-round pick (No. 146) in the 2009 NFL Draft, who also tore his left ACL while never making an impact with the team in his two seasons, Fleming followed in his footsteps.

Swanson and Sampson were already both on their way out due to the numbers game.
