Sakamoto: 49ers’ T Joe Staley Unsure About RT Anthony Davis’ Return As He Had This To Say

The San Francisco 49ers offensive line is a relatively tight group as the majority of players often hangout and spend their free time with each other and their respective families. Even past 49ers offensive lineman still keep in touch with current players such as G Adam Snyder, G/C Dillon Farrell and G Joe Looney just to name a few – so it was interesting to hear that Staley hasn’t kept in touch with RT Anthony Davis.

Davis who has publicly stated via twitter that he plans to return this season has yet to file the necessary paperwork. In addition, Davis has told me personally that he does indeed plan on making a comeback but apparently hasn’t told any of his former teammates. “I don’t know anything about that. I haven’t kept in contact with him at all,” Staley said.

Last year, Davis took a shot at Staley for allowing Seattle Seahawks SS Kam Chancellor to set the edge on the Pro Bowl left tackle.

Staley went on to say that he fully expects second-year RT Trent Brown to outright win the starting right tackle spot while giving high-praise to new teammate G Zane Beadles. Staley and Beadles both share the same sports agent and Staley always thought highly of the former Pro Bowl player. “He’s a good dude, really smart,” Staley said.

Will Davis return in 2016? That’s just a another question mark still unanswered, as the team prepares for the NFL Draft.
