Sakamoto: 49ers release Bruce Ellington after three seasons

The writing was on the wall for third-year wide receiver WR Bruce Ellington. After just three seasons in San Francisco, the team released their 2014 fourth-round pick (No. 106). Too many injuries and a lack of consistent production ultimately led to his downfall. 

49ers’ rookie Bruce Ellington says Colin Kaepernick has a “cannon!”

Playing in only 26 games, Ellington recorded 19 receptions for 215 yards and two touchdowns. That type of production just isn’t good enough in my opinion.
