Sakamoto: 49ers’ RB Carlos Hyde May Need Surgery To Repair Stress Fracture, Team Could Place On IR

A source close to the situation told me that San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde may need surgery to repair a stress fracture on his left foot. According to my source, they said that Hyde’s fracture could ‘break’ at any moment while needing at least four to six weeks recovery time to get the foot right.

Just a few days ago, I reported that Hyde could miss four to six weeks due to this injury but now it appears that surgery may be in the works.

If surgery was to take place, I’m also hearing that the team could sit Hyde the remainder of the season, while placing him on season-ending IR (Injured Reserve).

In seven games this season, Hyde has amassed 115 carries for 470 rushing yards and three touchdowns.
