The San Francisco 49ers officially announced that ILB Michael Wilhoite has been placed on season-ending IR this afternoon. No surprise to me as I reported that Wilhoite would go on IR back on December 8 — it turned out that was the case, as the four-year veteran’s 2015 season will be cut short due to a high-ankle sprain.
In 12 games this season, Wilhoite has recorded 85 tackles and one interception. With Wilhoite lost for the season, the team activated rookie fourth-round pick RB Mike Davis to the team’s 53-man active roster.
With #49ers C Marcus Martin listed as ‘doubtful’ that opens door to play G/C Ian Silberman. He’ll should get a strong look on Sun.

In other news, it looks like the 49ers will be without two of their key starters for the last game as DE Quinton Dial and SS Jaquiski Tartt have been ruled ‘out’ and ‘doubtful’ respectively. C Marcus Martin has also been ruled ‘doubtful’ which means G/C Ian Silberman should get some game time reps.
