When the San Francisco 49ers traded P Andy Lee to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for a future 2017 seventh-round pick last off-season, that made the No. 4 uniform available for the first time since 2004. As a result, that number was left untouched for the 2015 season, but now it appears that K Phil Dawson will have the honor of donning that number once again.
I wore #4 as a Texas Longhorn. I wore #4 as a Cleveland Brown. I am happy to announce, I will wear #4 in 2016 in SF!

Dawson, announced the news via twitter and it appears he will now wear the No. 4 for the upcoming 2016 season. Last year, Dawson made 24 of 27 field-goals while scoring 92 points on the season.
