Sakamoto: 49ers’ Hire Jeff Hafley as Defensive Backs Coach

The San Francisco 49ers have hired former Cleveland Browns defensive backs coach Jeff Hafley to the same position according to FoxSports. Hafley, originally broke into the NFL coaching ranks as an assistant defensive backs coach with the Tampa Bay Bucs in 2012 and remained there until the start of the 2014 season where he would then go on to coach the Cleveland Browns secondary.

So where does that leave the 49ers most prominent position on the defensive side of the ball? You know, the defensive coordinator. Well that is still up in the air but reports indicate that former Browns defensive coordinator Jim O’Neil may be on his way as well.

With the 49ers starting to round out their coaching staff they will need to find a tight-ends coach, defensive coordinator and outside linebackers coach, as all those positions are still up in the air.
