The San Francisco 49ers are continuing their search for pass catchers as they have scheduled a pre-draft visit with WR Ricky Collins (Texas A&M Commerce) according to Sacramento Bee’s Matt Barrows. Not to be mistaken for Texas A&M, Collins instead comes from a Division II school.
The 49ers who already scheduled two of their top 30 pre-draft visits with ILB Benardrick McKinney (Mississippi St.) and WR Stefon Diggs (Maryland) will now be bringing in Collins.
Last year, the 49ers brought in Georgia State WR Albert Wilson in for a pre-draft visit so you have to give credit to the team’s scouting department as they continue do their due diligence. At 6-0, 198, Collins may be a diamond in the rough.
The 49ers will likely target a wide-receiver in the earlier rounds and may target one as high as the first-round if the price is right.
In 2014, Collins finished with 71 catches for 1,187 yards and 14 touchdowns.
