Report: 49ers will part ways with Jim Harbaugh after four seasons

According to FOX Sports Jay Glazer, the San Francisco 49ers (7-8) will part ways with head coach Jim Harbaugh within 48 hours after the season ends. A scenario that has been highly anticipated for months now, it turns out that Harbaugh will now take his talents elsewhere. However, the decision is not without criticism, as many Forever Faithful support Harbaugh returning for a fifth season.

In fact, there is a petition swirling around on to keep Harbaugh in San Francisco as over 6,000 fans faithfully signed. But in the end, that wasn’t enough as Harbaugh is now on his way out.

In 2011, Harbaugh signed a five-year contract worth $25 million. In four seasons Harbaugh has turned around a laughing stock franchise back into a perennial powerhouse. From being named the 2011 AP NFL Coach of the Year to being the first coach in NFL history to take his team to three consecutive NFC Championship Games in his first three seasons, Harbaugh’s resume speaks for itself.

With Harbaugh to be relieved of his duties, there will be other NFL teams likely making him offers such as the Oakland Raiders, Chicago Bears, New York Jets, and of course Michigan.
