Photo Gallery: My first meal at Michael Mina with Matt Maiocco

Well, I usually would yelp this review but since it was my first time, I thought it would be a good idea to write the review here instead as myself, CSN Bay Area’s Matt Maiocco, and ESPN’s Paul Gutierrez ran next door to the highly anticipated Michael Mina Bourbon Steak and Pub Tailgate restaurant.

A nice restaurant that includes plenty of flat screens, bar, and sitting area, it set the tone for a nice ambiance. So what did we order? Well Maiocco and Gutierrez opted for the sammy pulled pork sandwich ($16) while I decided to go big with the $25 Gold Rush burger. Was it worth $25? Absolutely not. But it was nonetheless a solid burger. The bun is made of a hawaiian roll like bread with a “special” sauce. The fries were also surprisingly delicious as it tasted as if there was a truffle oil base to them. However, they are not truffle oil fries.

But it wasn’t all good and dandy as the additional charge for refills on drinks was a bit of a shocker. That’s right. They charge you for refills. So if you get a soft drink and the waiter/waitress comes by and asks if you want refills just know that the additional re-fills are not on the house.

Overall, it was a good experience, but if you want to dine here be sure to bring the Benjamin’s.
