San Francisco 49ers Southern Regional Scout Bob Morris has been all over the southern region as he scouts many prospects at their respective Pro Days. From Texas A&M to Oklahoma State, Morris has been seen doing his due diligence as he reports his insights back to GM Trent Baalke. And recently Morris was at it again as he was on hand to watch Texas DE/OLB Jackson Jeffcoat.
Jeffcoat who I was extremely high on since last season was clearly the player Morris was most interested in. At 6-foot-3 and 247 pounds, Jeffcoat is a bit of a tweener that is projected to be a rush outside linebacker in the 49ers 3-4 scheme if the Niners draft him. And with Jeffcoat having a 34 7/8 inch elongated wingspan that is something that the 49ers coaching staff covets.
Not to mention, Jeffcoat’s on-field production has been extremely productive evident by being named the 2013 Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year, it will be interesting to see if the 49ers target him in rounds two and three as they have six picks in the first three-rounds.
