When the San Francisco 49ers were searching for their franchise quarterback just a few years ago it was QB Peyton Manning who was on their short-list. A player that was regarded as the best quarterback in the game, many Forever Faithful around the Bay Area crossed their fingers hoping that Manning would somehow make his way to the red and gold.
However, that did not happen, and as a result the 49ers Beat Writers had the opportunity in asking him what his initial thoughts were on coming to San Francisco:
Manning on possibly coming to SF: “It’s an outstanding organization.I enjoyed getting to spend time with Harbaugh,Greg Roman &Trent Baalke.”

Manning said he had phone conversation with Baalke. — Ryan Sakamoto (@SakamotoRyan) October 15, 2014
Manning went on to call the 49ers a “first-class” organization. So why didn’t he come to San Francisco? Who knows.
