The San Francisco 49ers today announced that they have signed special-teams ace S Bubba Ventrone. Ventrone who was a late roster cut due to younger talent around him, is now back with the team after not being picked up on the waiver wire. To make room on the roster, the 49ers released another special-teams ace in WR Kassim Osgood.

Just two days removed from what head coach Jim Harbaugh labeled the best special-teams player on the team as he said, ” Kassim Osgood, again, he’s our best player on special teams, especially on the coverage units he’s doing a great job.” Why would the team release him? Your guess is as good as mine.

With the special-teams looking to get back on track they will need to do better in coverage as they are one of the worst in that department.
