The San Francisco 49ers all-time leading rusher RB Frank Gore has told close friends that he will sign a contract with the Philadelphia Eagles according to ESPNs Adam Schefter.
The 11-year veteran spent his entire 10 year-career in San Francisco while becoming a fan favorite in the process.
Originally a third-round pick (No. 65) in the 2005 NFL Draft, Gore has been the heart and soul of the 49ers offense while being backbone of the team’s offensive success. In 10 seasons in San Francisco, Gore has rushed for a franchise-high 11,073 yards and 64 touchdowns.
According to Pro Football the new deal would include $7.5 million in guaranteed money, something the 49ers would not shell out.
With Gore now off to Philadelphia, it will be up to second-year RB Carlos Hyde to take over the starting role as he now becomes the next man up.
