San Francisco 49ers DC Vic Fangio spoke to the beat writers today and while the hype has been heavily focused on OLB Aldon Smith, it’s another All-Pro linebacker that has been garnering headlines as ILB NaVorro Bowman’s recovery has been closely monitored.

Bowman who continues to rehab from his torn ACL/MCL injury suffered in last season’s NFC Championship Game, may now miss the entire 2014 season. A question asked by San Francisco Chronicle’s Eric Branch Fangio said, “That’s a possibility. I don’t know if that’s been decided or been the verdict but I’m sure it’s a possibility.”
Bowman underwent an MRI yesterday and the report from CSN Bay Area is that his surgically repaired left knee checked out “fine.”
However, no one really knows how that will impact Bowman who also told ESPN’s Ed Werder that he continues to experience soreness.
With the 49ers continuing to play each game without their two Pro-Bowl inside linebackers, it will be the Wilhoite/Borland connection that will need to hold down the fort.
