The 2016 NFL Draft has yet to officially take its course but that doesn’t mean mock drafts can’t be formulated as draft guru and ESPN analyst Mel Kiper weighed his two cents on who the San Francisco 49ers will take at No. 7. And while the name may not surprise you nor will the position, as Kiper has the team going defense in the first-round.
So who’s his selection. It’s none other than UCLA ILB Myles Jack:
“The 49ers had their linebacking corps diminished before the season even started in 2015, and Jack — who will be 100 percent even though he’s not a full workout participant at the NFL combine — gives them immediate help as a gifted linebacker who can cover as well as a good safety,” Kiper said.
I would rather the team select Notre Dame ILB Jaylon Smith if anything simply because he is the better player of the two when healthy. Not to mention, he is ranked No. 1 on my Big Board despite his leg injury.
With the 49ers preparing themselves for free-agency, it will be interesting to see which direction they will go in, as there are plenty of holes on the 49ers roster.
