Carmen Policy: “I Probably Wouldn’t Have Hired Tomsula In The First Place.”

During the San Francisco 49ers glory days it was team president/CEO Carmen Policy who helped guide the team to four Super Bowl victories. A president who worked very closely with arguably the best NFL owner of all-time in Eddie DeBartolo Jr., it was Policy who voiced his concerns as the team is in turmoil.

Policy had this to say about 49ers head coach Jim Tomsula while also giving his insights on what he and Eddie D would do if they were running the show instead of Jed York as Policy told KNBR 680.

On Tomsula:

“I hear the players basically like him as a coach, as a good guy, and so forth, and so on. In today’s day and age, I think you got to be more than just a good guy. And you got to be more than just liked by the players.”

Would Policy have hired Tomsula?

“If I were running things, I probably wouldn’t have hired Tomsula in the first place.”

If Eddie and Policy were running the show:

“If we were still in place. Eddie and myself and the organization is going through a tough time, we would be searching for answers. And we would be searching for answers that are going to make us better…Now if those answers are cleaning house. Then we’re cleaning house. If those answers are sticking to whose good and making changes along the way within the organization we’d do that. But we would be looking for top gauge talent.”
