Cardinals S Tyrann Mathieu Takes Shots At 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick

Arizona Cardinals S Tyrann Mathieu was on a conference call with local media today and he did not hold back his thoughts about San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick. After the game that saw Mathieu score a pick-six off Kap in the 49ers Week 3 loss, he labeled the 49ers passing game as ‘simplified.’

Now Mathieu has taken yet another shot at Kaepernick as he had this to say:

“We just knew Kaepernick’s tendencies. We knew what he liked to do. We knew which way he liked to roll out. We knew what side of the field he liked to read to. And you don’t pick up those same things with Gabbert.” And to be honest, many of the 49ers players I spoke with have full faith in Gabbert moving forward, as they believe he can take the team to the playoffs. “We just need to put him in a better position on offense,” said one 49ers player.

“Like I said, he’s better in the pocket,” Mathieu added. “He has a better feel for coverages. It seems like he can get to the line, see a coverage and then go to a different play. Or see a coverage and not throw the ball. You can see Gabbert’s maturity and obviously, the different things that he does well that, let’s say, Kaepernick doesn’t do well.”
