The San Francisco 49ers today announced that they have promoted TE Asante Cleveland to the team’s active roster. A move that was made due to the injuries of TE Vernon Davis and TE Vance McDonald, elevating¬† Cleveland as an insurance policy was necessary. However, in order to make room on the roster, the team released QB Josh Johnson.

Johnson who was a fan favorite among the Forever Faithful, will now be on the waiver wire as other teams have a shot at the dual-threat quarterback.
