The San Francisco 49ers have made headlines once again as they have now traded four-time Pro Bowl selection P Andy Lee to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for a 2017 seventh-round draft pick.

A move that was not surprising considering the team drafted P Bradley Pinion in the fifth-round (No. 165) of this year’s NFL Draft, it was obvious the team was looking to go in a cheaper direction.

Last year saw LS Brian Jennings lose his job to LS Kyle Nelson and this year marks a similar move.

GM Trent Baalke who is not afraid to let the board talk to him drafted Pinion as he felt he was the best player available. “What we saw in Bradley is a big, strong-legged punter that also kicks off…It’s not a message to Andy at all. As we always talk about, best player on the board at the time.”

Lee who was the longest tenured Niner on the team will now be teamed up with SS Donte Whitner.
