The San Francisco 49ers who will already hold a pre-draft visit for WR Albert Wilson on Monday, will host two other prospects in RB Storm Johnson (Central Florida) and OL Matt Patchan (Boston College). The NFL permits 30 pre-draft visits per club and are generally used to gain more knowledge about the athlete’s medical health and clear-up any character concerns.
Johnson, would likely be a sixth or seventh-round draft pick at best. A player that hails from UCF just like 49ers starting FB Bruce Miller, it remains to be seen how much interest they have in him. In 2013, Johnson finished with 1,139 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns. At 6-foot-0 and 209 pounds, Johnson is a bigger back that would be a nice addition in red zone opportunities.
Patchan, made headlines at the NFL combine as he was a top performer in the 40-yard dash with a 4.97 second time and 33.5-inch vertical. A behemoth player at 6-foot-6 and 302 pounds, he is the ideal offensive lineman that GM Trent Baalke covets as his size is massive.
Is it surprising that both Johnson and Patchan transferred from Florida schools as Johnson left Miami while Patchan transferred from Florida? Maybe coincidence but Baalke must see something in these kids as they initially started at powerhouse colleges.
