According to Arizona State OLB Carl Bradford, he will be next in line for a pre-draft visit with the San Francisco 49ers, as he said, “I went to San Diego. The Chargers flew me out there. I met with the head coach and the general manager and all that, and they showed me around the facility. Then this past week I just got done visiting Pittsburgh. The Steelers flew me out and did the same thing there. I’m going to visit the 49ers, too, and the Bears contacted me saying they’ll get with me to set up something.”
Bradford who was invited to the NFL scouting combine back in February ran a 4.76 second 40-yard dash, knocked out 23 reps on the bench press, displayed hops with a gaudy 37.5-inch vertical, 122-inch broad jump, 7.25 second 3-cone drill, and 4.30 short shuttle. In addition, the 2013 All-Pac-12 second-team player led the team in sacks (8.5) something the 49ers are looking for with the likely suspension of OLB Aldon Smith.

So what exactly would Bradford bring to the table? At 6-foot-1 and 250 pounds, Bradford would provide a non-stop motor, high character, and football junkie mentality. Known to be a student of the game as he’s mature and accountable while possessing great work ethic in both the weight room (power cleans 400 pounds) and film-study, Bradford would be a nice addition to the 49ers locker room. A player that is what GM Trent Baalke likes to call “wired right,” Bradford also graduated last fall with a degree in Criminal Justice, so you can be sure he will be targeted in the second-third-round.
In 2013, Bradford finished the season starting all 14 games while racking up 61 tackles, 19 tackles for loss, and 8.5 sacks. Projected by my estimates to be an edge rusher as a 3-4 outside linebacker, Bradford would add more competition on the outside while bringing a tough presence on special-teams. With Bradford set to make his pre-draft visit to Santa Clara, he will be the 12th prospect to do so.
