49ers TE Vernon Davis ruled out, Tank Carradine inactive

The San Francisco 49ers today announced that TE Vernon Davis would be ruled out for today’s game. Davis who shredded the Arizona Cardinals defense last season will now be watching from the sidelines for today’s game. A surprise to me considering he was not using his crutches while walking around, this is nonetheless a huge blow to the 49ers offense as TE Derek Carrier will now make his first career NFL start.

Davis who was bothered by an ankle injury in the Chicago Bears game last week while TE Vance McDonald  deals with a knee injury, makes Carrier the next man up.

Other players inactive for today’s game include CB Tramaine Brock, WR Quinton Patton, C Marcus Martin, RT Anthony Davis, and DE Tank Carradine.

What? Carradine! That’s right, Carradine is once again on the inactive list making the pass rush that much more important as others will need to step up along the defensive line namely DE Ray McDonald.
