Today the San Francisco 49ers announced they have signed QB Josh Johnson to a one-year deal. Originally a fifth-round pick (No. 160) in the 2008 NFL Draft of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Johnson has since bounced around the league including short stints with the 49ers, Cleveland Browns, and Cincinnati Bengals.  However, due to head coach Jim Harbaugh having ties to the quarterback during their time together at USD (University of San Diego), the 49ers thought it would be wise to give Johnson a second opportunity.

An athletically gifted quarterback with the speed to elude pressure, Johnson will be looking to fight for the No. 3 quarterback spot. In order to make room for Johnson the 49ers waived DE Christian Tupou.
