The San Francisco 49ers today announced that they have waived T Jonathan Martin. Originally a 2012 second-round pick (No. 42) of the Miami Dolphins, Martin was shortly traded to the 49ers for a conditional seventh-round draft pick in 2015.

A player that struggled all season long, the 49ers thought they may be able to resurrect his career as he had worn out his welcome in Miami. However, that did not happen and as a result he allowed the second most sacks on the team with six.

Martin became expendable due to the team signing T/G Erik Pears this past off-season. Something I envisioned happening as I wrote an article yesterday on why the 49ers offensive line will bounce back in 2015, I purposely left Martin out of the discussion as I felt he would not return.

With the 49ers clearing up one roster spot, it will be interesting to see who is next as the 49ers will have a new look in 2015.
