49ers re-sign WR Kassim Osgood, release QB Josh Johnson

Just three days removed from what I predicted, as I said that San Francisco 49ers QB Josh Johnson would be released as the 49ers signed S Bubba Ventrone, I was clearly wrong as they instead released another special-teams ace in WR Kassim Osgood. A move that was questioned all the way around especially since 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh labeled him as the “best special-teams player on the team,” the 49ers thought it was the best move to make at that time.

Now, after being released, not once, not twice, but three times, Osgood is back with the team as they re-signed him while releasing Johnson. I guess in the end I was correct, as both Osgood and Ventrone are on the team while Johnson is not but nonetheless the way the transactions unfolded was weird. Why not release Johnson in the first place?

Anyhow, like a bad relationship where couples break-up, get back together, break-up and get back together again the same can be said of Osgood as he’s now back with the team and ready to go.
