The revamped San Francisco 49ers secondary has some fresh set of faces for the 2014 season including SS Antoine Bethea and CB Chris Cook. Two players that were signed as an unrestricted free-agents, they will be heavily counted upon to fill the voids left by SS Donte Whitner, CB Tarell Brown and CB Carlos Rogers. And while they have yet to gel as a unit, as OTA’s just started this week, some friendships off the field are starting to come to fruition.
Yesterday, CB Perrish Cox and Cook were seen hanging out at the Foot Locker store (right next to the 49ers store) at Valley Fair, as Cox tweeted:

Cook then posted pictures via instagram with him and Cox.

And while both Cox and Cook’s 53-man roster spots are not set in stone, I think it’s safe to say they both will crack the 53-man roster despite Cook’s past struggles in Minnesota. Let’s put it this way, an unrestricted free-agent wouldn’t sign with a team only to be cut days before the season began, making Cook almost a sure lock.
With the two cornerbacks spending quality time together, it will be interesting to see how they fare once Training Camp gets underway as the cornerback position will be one of the top camp battles in 2014.
