San Francisco 49ers GM Trent Baalke told us in his pre-draft press conference today that they held a private meeting with DE Michael Sam at his Missouri Pro Day. The first openly gay NFL player (potentially) has received mixed reviews since speaking about his personal lifestyle. And while QB Colin Kaepernick is in support if Sam were to join the team, others including the 49ers General Manager himself seems to have a high interest in the 2013 SEC Player of the Year.

When asked about Sam’s status as a player, Baalke said, “There’s an element of courage. We met with him yes, at his Pro Day.”

Whether or not the 49ers draft Sam, who is projected to be a fourth or fifth-round draft pick is anyone’s guess, but one thing is for sure, if the value is right, don’t count out Baalke as he has one goal in mind and that’s to win a Super Bowl Championship.
