As the NFL Network’s Top 100 Players of 2014 continues it was San Francisco 49ers DE Justin Smith who was the next Niner up coming in at No. 69. The player simply known as “Cowboy” has made the list for the third consecutive season. However, he has been declining as he was ranked No. 17 (2012), No. 29 (2013) and No. 69 (2014). Still, Cowboy continues to be a clog and key player on one of the best defenses in the NFL.
In 2013, Smith finished with 49 tackles and 6.5 sacks while consistently fending off double-teams. A true warrior down in the trenches, Smith’s unselfish play allows his All-Pro linebackers behind him to swarm to the football while rushing the quarterback.
With Smith making the list that brings the number of 49ers to three as T Joe Staley and QB Colin Kaepernick went before him.
