As the San Francisco 49ers prepare to take on their first full-padded practice of 2015 later this evening, it was head coach Jim Tomsula who met with 49ers beat writers this morning.
As for injuries are concerned it appears that second-year WR Bruce Ellington suffered a muscle strain and will not partake in today’s practice. Ellington, who shined on the second day of training camp will now take a back seat, as other players like WR Quinton Patton should step up for the second consecutive practice.
#49ers Jim Tomsula on Dial: “Every single day, Quinton Dial has gotten better. Every single day. Every day he busts his tail.”

One player who continues to impress the coaching staff on the defensive side of the ball is 49ers 2013 fifth-round pick (No. 15) DE Quinton Dial. In fact, Tomsula praised him so much that if he were to describe the behemoth Alabama product he would need to use curse words (jokingly).
Moody on the abrupt retirements of ILB Patrick Willis and Chris Borland: “At first I was surprised when it happened.” — Ryan Sakamoto (@SakamotoRyan) August 4, 2015
While Tomsula praised Dial, it was another 2013 draft pick who is receiving some hype as ILB Nick Moody talked about taking on a starter role in ILB Michael Wilhoite’s absence.
Next up we had 49ers LG Alex Boone. And while his humor was well received, he also gave us some insight as he settles int0 his new role on the left side.
