49ers’ Jim Harbaugh: “I didn’t call anybody out.”

The San Francisco 49ers local media had the opportunity to meet with head coach Jim Harbaugh for the second consecutive day. A coach that fielded many questions this morning it was WR Anquan Boldin that was the first topic of discussion. Harbaugh spoke on his star wide-receiver by starting out by saying he’s an A-plus-plus guy! Learn what else he had to say about Boldin and the 49ers below:

On Boldin’s work ethic:

“Comes to practice. Goes straight home. Comes back and kicks butt the next day. Goes home and comes back and kicks butt again. You feel showered by the attributes that he has in terms of seriousness of being great and seriousness of our team improving and winning and in all regards everything he does.”

On how Boldin’s mentorship helps the team:

“He will go up and talk to a guy whether it’s the quarterback or the wide receiver…I’ve seen him even do it with the defensive guys. It gets quiet when he’s talking cause people are listening.”

On why DE Justin Smith has been a non participant during minicamp:

“He hasn’t been cleared to practice yet but he will be for training camp.”

On why 49ers ILB Patrick Willis will play the “Mike” instead of the “Jack” position:

“That he’s gonna be in there in the base and also in the nickel. He’s a great football player we want him on the field as much as possible.”

On why he was disappointed in TE Vernon Davis and G Alex Boone missing minicamp:

“I was just disappointed in the decision not to come to the minicamp. I didn’t call anybody out there was no call out.”

On the 49ers offense facing 8 men boxes 75 percent of the time and how they will counter that in 2014:

“That’s a reality and we got to have ways to make defenses pay for that…that’s one of the focuses.”
