49ers’ Jim Harbaugh defends Colin Kaepernick’s Miami incident

Yesterday I had the opportunity to meet with San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh and among the hot topics that were discussed was the off-field “suspicious incident” regarding QB Colin Kaepernick. A quarterback that has been heavily scrutinized for his involvement with a 25-year old woman at a Miami hotel on April 3, in which she blacked out and wound up in a hospital after a night of drinking with Kaepernick, WR Quinton Patton and WR Ricardo Lockette, no charges have been filed.

Harbaugh defended Kaepernick as he said, “Remember this, there’s sometimes two sides to the story and I often see the one side that’s reported in the media and it gains speed and attention. The other side still remains to be told. Looking at the Colin Kaepernick situation, at some point there needs to be a resolution to some of this jump-the-gun, witch-hunt scenario that we’re seeing. The only victim in Colin’s case is Colin’s reputation.”

He also added a famous quote from the former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Winston Churchill as he said, “A lie will get halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to put on its pants.”

Just hours earlier 49ers GM Trent Baalke echoed his support for Kaepernick in his pre-draft media press conference when he was asked if there were any concerns with the Miami incident, Baalke firmly said, “No!”
