The San Francisco 49ers today announced that four-year veteran ILB Michael Wilhoite will be removed from the Non-Football injury list. Wilhoite who missed all of training camp due to a muscle strain will now return to action as he fights his way back atop the depth-chart.

Wilhoite was the only linebacker to start all 16 games last season and will now have to compete with ILB Nick Moody who has been taking first-team reps all while looking strong against both the run and pass.

However, the 49ers lost another inside linebacker as ILB Desmond Bishop suffered a left thumb injury during Sunday’s win against the Dallas Cowboys.

With the 49ers looking to cut their roster from 90 to 75 players after their game against the Denver Broncos, it will be interesting to see who they retain at the inside linebacker position as they try and fill the void left by Patrick Willis and Chris Borland.
