49ers Host Pre-Draft Visit For WR Deontay Greenberry

Deontay Greenberry, Anthony Cioffi

The San Francisco 49ers will be playing host again this time for another wide-receiver prospect as WR Deontay Greenberry will make a pre-draft visit to Santa Clara according to Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee.

The Fresno kid who played ball at the University of Houston will now get a closer look from GM Trent Baalke as he continues to bring in draft eligible prospects.

In three season at UH, Greenberry racked up 201 catches for 2,612 yards and 20 touchdowns. However his best season came in 2013 when he recorded 82 catches for 1,202 yards and 11 touchdowns. And while he was not invited to the NFL combine, Greenberry had the opportunity to showcase his skills at the Cougars pro day and he didn’t disappoint.

A 4.52 40-yard dash, 35.5-inch vertical, and 116-inch broad-jump where enough for the 49ers to take a second look at him. At 6-1, 211, Greenberry provides a nice combination of H-W-S that scouts covet. However, the question remains how high will he go in the draft?

With the 49ers obviously looking for another wide receiver, it will be interesting to see how they attack the position as they can either trade up for a tier one or take a wait and see approach and find one in mid-to-later rounds.
