49ers’ Hold Pre-Draft Visit With Sammie Coates

According to multiple league sources, the San Francisco 49ers will meet with Auburn WR Sammie Coates later this month.

Coates, who has the speed to stretch defenses between the 20s would be a nice addition in OC Geep Chryst’s offense. At the NFL combine, Coates displayed his explosiveness with a 4.43 40-yard dash, 41-inch vertical, 131-inch broad-jump, and 23 reps on the bench press. However, it’s his focus drops and erratic play that has scouts worried.

At 6-1, 212, Coates looks the part of a prototypical NFL wide-receiver. But with a questionable catching radius and 19.1 percent drop rate, one has to consider if his hands are worthy of a second-round grade.

This will be the fifth known wide-receiver pre-draft visit the 49ers have held so there is no question that wide-receiver is at the top of their list.

With the 49ers continuing to bring prospects in, we will keep you updated on the latest as it unfolds.
