According to National Football Post’s Aaron Wilson, the San Francisco 49ers held a pre-draft visit with Iowa TE C.J. Fiedorowicz according to a league source. Fiederowicz is considered a third to fourth-round draft pick and will in all likelihood be available when the 49ers are on the clock in the third-round. However, with the 49ers already spending a second-round pick last year on TE Vance McDonald to backup Pro Bowl TE Vernon Davis, Fiedorowicz would likely be competing with TE Garrett Celek for the No. 3 spot.
At the NFL combine this year, Fiedorowicz put up a 4.76 40-yard dash, 25 reps on the bench press, 31.5-inch vertical, 116-inch broad jump, 7.10 second in the three-cone drill, and 4.26 in the 20-yard shuttle. Solid numbers considering Fiedorowicz was a top performer in three of those events, including the bench press, 3-cone drill, and short shuttle, it’s interesting to see if GM Trent Baalke will target Fiedorowicz if he’s available in the third or fourth-round.
Another big bodied tight-end, as Fiedorowicz stands 6-foot-5 and 265 pounds, you can be sure he would be mainly used as an extra blocker in OC Greg Roman’s power running scheme. With Fiedorowicz being the 11th prospect in for a pre-draft visit, the 49ers will likely do their due diligence as they have 19 spots to left in their top 30 visits.
