The San Francisco 49ers recently held a pre-draft visit with Notre Dame DE Stephon Tuitt. At 6-5 and 304 pounds, Tuitt brings the ideal H-W-S for the defensive end position in DC Vic Fangio’s 3-4 scheme. A player that may have seen his draft stock slip due to discovering a Jones fracture in his left foot, Tuitt has not worked out since the NFL combine leaving many General Managers to wonder when he’ll be back in action. However, his production on the field should not be in question as he has been a key anchor on the Fighting Irish’s defensive line.
In 2013, Tuitt has the mean-streak to make quarterbacks cringe. A pure bull-rush specialist with the strength to impose his will, Tuitt’s ability to push the pocket should not go unnoticed. Not to mention, Tuitt knocked out 31 reps on the bench press at the NFL scouting combine, you can see how this physical freak can be the grunt down in the trenches. A 3-4 defensive end if he were to be drafted by the 49ers, he fits the scheme extremely well as he can stack and shed blockers while holding the point of attack. And while his physical skill set may make him highly sought after it’s his elongated wingspan that has caught GM Trent Baalke’s eye.
#49ers held pre-draft visit with Notre Dame DE Stephon Tuitt. 34 5/8 wingspan…Baalke loves that!

Tuitt measured in at having a 34 5/8 inch wingspan. A natural five-technique in a 3-4 base defense, it will be interesting to see if Baalke targets at Tuitt with their first-round pick (No. 30) if they stay pat as I have him available in my latest mock Draft. In 2013, Tuitt recorded 49 tackles, 9 tackles for loss, and 7.5 sacks.
Since Baalke took over the war room he has yet to draft a projected 3-4 defensive lineman.
