As the San Francisco 49ers continued to interview coaches it was OC Greg Roman who was on the hot seat. An offensive coordinator that has been often criticized for his run first plays on first-downs while not utilizing bubble screens, reverses and three-wide receiver sets, Roman vowed a new offense would ensue in 2014. Roman spoke on that possibility as he said, “I think it’s fair to make a statement to say it’s a different offense in 2014. We got some new guys in WR Brandon Lloyd has been out there everyday had done a great job of taking advantage of his opportunities. WR Steve Johnson’s another guy.

Roman then spoke on using three-wide out sets as he said, “I think that’s going to unfold as it goes…three wides, two tights, a back, were flexible. We can mix it up however.”

With Roman having all the personnel groupings at his disposal it will be interesting to see how he uses his skill players in 2014.
