After praising rookie second-round pick (No. 56) RB Carlos Hyde, Roman spoke on another player who may have benefited from other players being out as G Jonathan Martin well have the opportunity to play guard. Roman said, “We put him there a little bit. That’s something we’re going to spend more time on, that’s definitely something that we think is possible. And he does have that flexibility in him.”

However, Martin wasn’t the only one getting praise as another Martin garnered that honor in rookie third-round pick G/C Marcus Martin. Roman emphasized the importance of the center position and believes Martin is up for the challenge as he said, “He’s done a really good job so far against our defense. Not only physically but mentally as well.”

With Training camp coming up, it will be interesting to see how the guard battle plays out as G Alex Boone has been MIA while both Martin’s getting invaluable playing time.
