The San Francisco 49ers announced today that they have signed NT Glenn Dorsey to a two-year contract extension. Dorsey who was quickly inserted into the starting lineup after a Week 2 season-ending injury to NT Ian Williams proved to be an integral part of the 49ers defensive line. In his first season in San Francisco, Dorsey finished with 41 tackles and 2.0 sacks. A respectable stat line considering Dorsey was asked to be a space-eater while occupying multiple offensive lineman at the zero-technique, Dorsey more than proved his worth in 2013.

However, due to a torn biceps injury suffered last week, Dorsey will likely be out for the majority of the 2014 season as he recovers from that freak injury. A big free-agent acquisition last season, Dorsey will now be donning the red and gold via 2016 as his original two-year contract was due to expire at the end of this season.

A big playmaker who doesn’t garner the media hype or attention, Dorsey will be looking to earn every penny, as he’s proven to be a big part of DC Vic Fangio’s scheme down in the trenches.
