San Francisco 49ers GM Trent Baalke isn’t one to compare players. When asked how 2013 first-round pick (No. 18) FS Eric Reid stacked up to his predecessor FS Dashon Goldson, Baalke gave a vanilla answer.
“We never compare guys around here in terms of one player to the next, whether it’s this generation or trying to compare him to someone that’s played in the past,” Baalke said.
But don’t tell that to 49ers DE DeForest Buckner as he shares a different point of view. At the NFL combine, Buckner was asked the simple question of who he molds his game after. Buckner didn’t hesitate. “The person I compare myself to is DE Calais Campbell,” D-Fo told Bucky Brooks of NFL.com.
Watch the video below and learn what else Buckner had to say as he’s primed for a big rookie season.
