When the San Francisco 49ers drafted ILB Chris Borland in the third-round (No. 77) of this year’s NFL Draft, I knew they had gotten a steal. A player that produced gaudy numbers in the Big Ten, Borland was an absolute animal on the football field.
However, it was Borland’s college teammate who thought Borland would be the player he is today as Wisconsin product and now newest member of the San Francisco 49ers’ CB Marcus Cromartie told me in our one-on-one interview yesterday:
I had a nice chat w/ #49ers newcomer CB Marcus Cromartie. He said that he told everyone his teammate Borland would be “steal of the draft.”

“I knew he was a first-round talent, the guy can play. When you turn on the game-film all you see is Borland making tackles,” Cromartie said. “We had a good defense and Borland was a big reason why.”
